Off Road Trips

26th ORT in The Lone Ranger – Washita 7-26-14

This is the first time I’ve been down to Washita since the new ownership has taken over. While they aren’t open as much as they used to be, the park is better marked than it has ever been! It’s been over a year since I’ve made the trip down there so it was nice to get back to the old stomping grounds, even if it was 200°F out side! Needless to say it was extremely dry which limited traction quite a bit (the dirt was very powdery).

St. Joe State Park is nearby and we kept seeing some high dollar sand rigs pass us by on the way down:

We traveled about 6 miles wandering through Fubar (A4), up and down Outside the wire (B10), part of Parris Island (Spotters alley), and taking the casual route out on Ground Pounder (Trail 4) to Swamp Doggie (A5):

No real damage from the group other than some overheating. I did mange to bash in my drivers door a touch more (the window actually goes up better now!), and bend my rear DS again. I wound up having to make the trip home in FWD which really sucked with that locker in there. I’m in no hurry to do that again! Light duty Tcase 4tw!

Lots of videos from the day, all of them in 720 so crank up the resolution:

Who needs a 14 bolt shave? And yeah, that DS really is bent that bad:

All and all a good trip though slightly bittersweet as this was likely the last trip the truck will be making to this park. I’m currently on the hunt for the trucks replacement so that I can start taking the family out on these wheeling adventures again. Depending on when that vehicle shows up, the truck will give up its life at that point.
