Ferne Clyffe, Bork Falls, Burden Falls, and Garden of the Gods 6-8-14

South of us got a ton or rain this past week, so we snuck down to see some of the waterfalls and such. We put a little over 350 miles on the adventure mobile.

Usual Story, 4 lane:

To two Lane:

To 1.5 Lanes:

Then Gravel Roads:

Until we got to Big Rocky hallow at Ferne Clyffe:

Back to two lane:

Then some more Gravel Roads:

On the back side of Ferne Clyffe, there is another falls called Bork’s Falls just a short hike off the road. That water crossing in the prior photo is actually the top of the falls:

Back off to more gravel roads:

To two lane:

Back to gravel:

Until we got to Burden Falls. This is the first time I’ve been to these falls with them actually flowing a decent amount:

Back on the gravel roads:

And stopped for some good eats at the only local place down there:

And two lane’d it to the Garden of the Gods for a quick hike (the boy was starting to get fussy):

Then we stopped by the nearby Rim Rock Trail. This would probably be a better trail to hike in the fall/winter as the vegetation is pretty heavy around the trail blocking most of the views. There is some neat slots to squeeze though:

After that it was just a bunch of winding back roads back home…
