Building a house – Not for the weak of heart! Part 2
Rolling into 2018, things became a bit of a blur as I was pulling long days at work, then working with My dad in the evenings to keep the momentum going. Once the rough in Electrical work was completed, we started the long task of insulating the walls:
All the walls, and basement too!:
The HVAC got knocked out prior to the drywall guys coming in to do their thing:
As the drywallers did their work inside, we worked on the siding as the weather permitted. The siding (and other outside work) wound up taking much longer than anticipated due to the weather working against us so much:
During one of the frequent spring rainstorms, we spent some time blowing in insulation in the attic. If memory serves me right, there are roughly 36 bales of insulation in this picture:
Eventually the inside drywall work was completed and the walls painted, which meant it was time to start laying floor. Laminate in the bedrooms:
And tile in the bathroom and laundry room:
Somewhere in the mix of all that, we wrapped up the electrical work:
The days were getting longer at this point, but at least I had a nice view every morning as I started my weekend work:
In the final push, Many things were getting wrapped up. The weather finally cooperated well enough for us to get the siding completed (Last piece going up):
The outside concrete work was wrapped up:
So it was really looking like a house now!
I had even managed to clean up the garage enough to get all three cars in it too!
With the finial inspections completed, we moved into the house and have been slowly knocking out the odds and ends projects as we have time. It is very nice to be back in our own place:
That about covers it for the house part, I’ll do some separate posts on the garage as that project comes together.
