COLORADO AND UTAH TRIP 2019- Day 3

COLORADO AND UTAH TRIP 2019- Day 3

We all crashed hard after two long days of traveling across this great nation (See travel days 1 & 2 HERE.) While traveling, we are always on the lookout for local breakfast stops that open early to fit our schedules. Our first morning in Avon found us at the Avon Bakery & Deli where on a whim I picked up a “French Toast Sandwich”. And it became my new favorite breakfast food for the trip!

Colorado and Utah Trip 2019

Travel Days 1 and 2 in the Mighty Merc It’s been way too long since we last had a blog post up! We have so much to share from our summer and fall adventures and want to start with all we saw, hiked, and climbed on our last westward adventure. Once again we found ourselves loading up and heading west for our family vacation. This year was a dual destination event with the bulk of our time being spent around…

The Mighty Merc – 9th ORT At The Badlands 4/6/19 – Part 1

The Mighty Merc – 9th ORT At The Badlands 4/6/19 – Part 1

We’ve been a bit overdue for a weekend trip, so when the option for a trip out to the Badlands came up, the opportunity was seized to make a long weekend out of it. Coming off the high from finally get lots of things sorted on the Merc, we were ready to start putting some miles on it to find out what the next round of maintenance needed to be. I can safely say this is the nicest the truck…

The Mighty Merc – 9th ORT At The Badlands

The Mighty Merc – 9th ORT At The Badlands

After an excellent day prior exploring and hiking around the Parke county area (Turkey Run Visit, and Covered Bridge Exploration), I was anxious to get to our next stop on the Trip. That being The Badlands Off Road Park in Attica Indiana. It had been awhile since we were out here last (2013 trip in The Lone Ranger) so I was curious to see how much the park had changed in 4 years.

Kid sized work bench

As the kids get a bit bigger (Read – I don’t have to constantly watch them), they have been spending more and more time out in the garage with me “Helping Daddy”. They are often looking for things to play with and tend to steal every tool within reach and scatter them around the garage. It’s quite a bit of fun, though it often means I spend a bit of time looking for the missing tools or other “projects” they…

The Mighty Merc – Overdue Refresh

The Mighty Merc – Overdue Refresh

The end of 2017 and all of 2018 was nutty to say the least. Between work going crazy and the fun of building a house, the Merc has been neglected a bit. Very few wheeling trips, and zero preventative maintenance. Things have started to balance out a bit now on the home and work front, which meant I have been able to sneak some garage time in.

The Mighty Merc – 8th ORT at Flat Nasty Off-Road 12/1/18

With a little goading from my internet friends, I made the trek down to Flat Nasty with another friend riding shotgun whom had never been off-roading before. It was great to meet up with a group of people that I have only spoken with online and it wise nice to be around people that have a similar philosophy in off-roading. There was definitely a bit of a mind warp so see so many pretty full sized trucks the mix. Unfortunately…

The Mighty Merc – DVD Player mount

The Mighty Merc – DVD Player mount

Before heading out west, it seemed like a good idea to figure out a way to hold our portable DVD player for the kids. While I’m not really a fan of letting the kids veg out, I am REALLY not a fan of listening to tired whiny kids for 18 hours, so I made the concession to make the DVD player available to them during our long highway burn. But the way that the mount was made makes it easy…
