Johnson’s Shut-ins 10/27/15
We loaded up and headed down to Johnson Shut-ins to do some easy hiking with the boy and the recently discharged wife. This was our first trip in the ‘new-to-us’ adventure mobile (’08 Mazda5). We were fully expecting the thing to be a penalty box, but it is actually a hoot to drive and it pulls down great MPG’s driving dumb:

The Mighty Merc – Crossing the 1,000 mile mark
This past Turkey Day, we loaded up the Mercury for its first long road trip, which at the end of the trip marked the 1,000 mile point since the build first rolled out of the garage.

The Mighty Merc – Rear Cargo Platform
I have a dream that will probably never become a reality, but I hope to aspire to it one day. That dream is to have all the tools required for the Merc to just live in the Merc full time. That way when I’m ready to wheel, I won’t have to spend any time getting things loaded up, hoping that I didn’t forget something. I can just jump in and go.

Cuivre River State Park 10/19/15
More boring housework for us this weekend, but we did manage to get out an hike at Cuivre River (pronounced Quiver River) park near Troy MO.
