The Mighty Merc โ Power Steering Fun!
This was one of the bigger pain in the butt parts of this project for no good reason, but weโll get to that frustration later. I am planning on using the stock Ford pump that came with the 5.0 to power things. From what I have been able to find, this pump should flow enough and put out enough pressure to get the job done. If it doesnโt, weโll figure out another plan.

The Lone Ranger โ Intermediate Steering Shaft Repair
There were surprisingly few articles written on how to replace the rag joints in our steering shafts, so hereโs one for ya. The intermediate on my generation of truck has two rag joints, and after several years (and miles) theyโre bound to fail. When pulling the transmission out (for the third time) I noticed that the upper rag joint was in very rough shape. I did a brief search and it appears that this part is no longer being made.…

The Lone Ranger โ Steering update
So Iโll just start out by saying I was wrong. Heims for the street do in fact suck. After about 7k miles, there is noticeable slop in the heims I was using, and Iโm pretty sure the little bit of mud I got into is what killed them. Iโve now gone with the GM TREโs and Iโm amazed that I didnโt notice how sloppy those hiems were getting sooner. For the TREโs, its just the typical GM Stuff with Ruff…
