    The Mighty Merc โ€“ Power Steering Fun!

    This was one of the bigger pain in the butt parts of this project for no good reason, but weโ€™ll get to that frustration later. I am planning on using the stock Ford pump that came with the 5.0 to power things. From what I have been able to find, this pump should flow enough and put out enough pressure to get the job done. If it doesnโ€™t, weโ€™ll figure out another plan.

    The Lone Ranger โ€“ Intermediate Steering Shaft Repair

    There were surprisingly few articles written on how to replace the rag joints in our steering shafts, so hereโ€™s one for ya. The intermediate on my generation of truck has two rag joints, and after several years (and miles) theyโ€™re bound to fail. When pulling the transmission out (for the third time) I noticed that the upper rag joint was in very rough shape. I did a brief search and it appears that this part is no longer being made.…

    The Lone Ranger โ€“ Steering update

    So Iโ€™ll just start out by saying I was wrong. Heims for the street do in fact suck. After about 7k miles, there is noticeable slop in the heims I was using, and Iโ€™m pretty sure the little bit of mud I got into is what killed them. Iโ€™ve now gone with the GM TREโ€™s and Iโ€™m amazed that I didnโ€™t notice how sloppy those hiems were getting sooner. For the TREโ€™s, its just the typical GM Stuff with Ruff…
