Welding cart and small Fab table
Not long ago I built a nice, heavy duty, welding/fab table. It was a great idea with one fatal flaw. That flaw being that all horizontal surfaces in my garage tend to get filled up with crap. So my nice fab table often looked like this:
So I hatched an idea for small welding cart with a small table portion that I could use for welding the smaller projects. Small being the key word here as I am flat out of room in the garge. So I got to cutting up some metal:
And I cleaned off a portion of the big welding table so that I could actually weld on it:
Magic happened, and a cart emrged:
I made the top hinge over so I could remove the welder easily if needed. This also makes it easier to change the spool, but you don’t have to do this to get to the spool access:
So the welder moved from its job cart where it had been living since I brought it home:
I pulled everything back off after I was happy with the layout and stuck some paint on it:
In its home. You can see how the small work bench I built is often covered in junk as well 🙁 With this cart I was smart enough to make the top horizontal surface just small enough that the only things that fit on there are my welding helmet, gloves, and glasses. This helps keep the clutter off of it:
I gave the table a try by wrapping up my rocket stove build. I’m pretty happy with how wel it turned out, and the working height is perfect for me:
So now all of my fabrication stuff has a home, its very nice to be able to walk over to one area and grab all the things I need to get to welding.
