Oh Canada! 2013 Trip – Finally Dry Friday
We woke up early to catch the sunrise, and much to our surprise, it was actually dry! We headed out to Mosquito…errr.. Pyramid Island to grab some sunrise photos. By the way, sunset is 10:30 (stays light until 11:15 ish) and sunrise is 5:30 (gets light around 4:45):

The Mighty Merc – Moving the VSS and Tone Ring Math
In 1999 (and newer) Explorers and Mountaineers use a tone ring in the rear differential to give a signal for the VSS. This signal is used for the automatic transmission inputs as well as the ABS and speedometer. While my autotragic and ABS is going away, I still wanted to have a working speedometer and cruise control.

Oh Canada! 2013 Trip – Extra Wet Thursday
We woke up Thursday to rain, rain, and more rain with a balmy 6*C temp (about 40*F). Some of the places we visited have had rain every day since 6/2/13. Needless to say the ground was rather saturated which caused us some problems later on. It did dry out some on the next day, but for this day, we were wrapped up in Poncho’s trying to keep dry.

The Mighty Merc – Plugging the NP205
This is just a bit of information I found somewhere on Pirate4x4.com. Since I’m not using the standard speedometer connection on the NP205, I have hole I need to plug up. Also, since I have clocked the whole assembly up, the fill plug no longer sits in the correct spot, so I needed a new fill location. Well we’re doing things a bit differently this year in several aspects: – I’m writing this trip report up postmortem since we didn’t have internet access during most of the trip.
