We woke up Thursday to rain, rain, and more rain with a balmy 6*C temp (about 40*F). Some of the places we visited have had rain every day since 6/2/13. Needless to say the ground was rather saturated which caused us some problems later on. It did dry out some on the next day, but for this day, we were wrapped up in Poncho’s trying to keep dry.
Heading through the park in the rain:
We eventually got to Mistaya Canyon trail, and worked on soaking ourselves as we made our way down to the canyon:
We stopped by Bridal Veil Falls…:
…on the way to the Athabasca Gacier. Where they had these cool buses hanging out:
The hike up to the glacier was wet and cold with a nice breeze coming down off all that ice:
A quick stop at Tangle Creek for lunch:
And then we were off to Beauty Creek trail which followed lots of waterfalls (11 I think?). The trail is off the beaten path a little bit since they moved the road away from it. The trail actually start out on the old road bed:
Up a steep hill, and we were then walking next to a very quickly flowing creek:
Then we went to Athabasca Falls:
And then onto Horseshoe Lake:
After that stop, we checked into our hotel, and went looking for something else to do in the rain. The wife suggested Maligne Canyon, so into the car we went again!

Do we finally find some dry weather the next day? On to the next post!
