The Lone Ranger – 2,000 mile update
Not exactly an exciting update, but I’ve passed the 2k mile mark here recently, and nothing’s killed me yet. The truck has been playing DD while I did the clutch on my Mustang, so the miles got racked up on it. Over all, I’m very happy with how its working on road. Some Hit and misses: Hits: – The brakes are friggin awesome – The track bar makes it much nicer to drive – It makes me giggle to be…

The Lone Ranger – Winch Mounting
I’ve been wheeling for some time without a winch now, never really thought I needed one (probably still don’t). But the last time I rode along at Interlake gave me a new perspective. Long story short, it was very wet from melting snow, throw in a very sideways XJ (leaning in an alarming direction), and you have yourself the makings of a situation where using a Highlift/come-a-long to recover some one just isn’t a good answer. The front needed a bit more aggressive of a trim job: I wound up leaving some of that little bracket in the front to make it easier to mount the inner fender liner too. Hopefully it won’t rub the tire too bad at full stuff.

The Lone Ranger – Second Stretch
Happy Day! The Ranger took its first ‘long’ road trip into work today (about 18 miles one way). I’m happy to report it didn’t fall apart and kill a buss load of Nuns on the way in… With the 4:10’s, it’s a bit steep, but really not that bad at all to drive (5th gear is 2k rpms at 70 mph). You’ve got to burn a bit more clutch to get it moving, but once its rolling life is good.…
