The Lone Ranger – Front SAS – Leaf Mounts

Now that I’ve got this fancy used axle and used springs, I need to mount them to the truck. For the front-rear leaf mounts (mounts close to the firewall) I came up with a boxed in leaf mount. This mount will be somewhat outboard of the frame in this area. The mounts were made out of scrap ¼” material that I scrounged from the work dumpster. Parts: Pre weld: Welded (its been a little while since I’ve played welder, be…

    ORT – Washita Mx 3-14-09

Another look back on a trip to my favorite park in the Old ’87 XJ. So many XJ’s floating around with the usual Cherokee Group, with a smattering of short wheel base folks as well. I had a photographer riding along for this trip, so a decent amount of photos were taken. But sadly, they were all pretty small, so you might have to squint a bit to see everything. Enjoy! Link to all the photos can be found here…

ORT – Jeep Jam 2015 at Flat Nasty Off Road 5-2-15

The 10th annual SIJA Jeep Jam was held at Flat Nasty Off Road this year. We really couldn’t have asked for better weather, and as always, it was an awesome day in the woods! This was the boy’s first trip down to Flat Nasty and really his first experience with playing on the rocks. Thankfully, he seemed to enjoy it quite a bit! Since the whole family was going, I had set the Cookie Cutter TJ up so that it…

Garage Tips – Fuel Injector Cleaning at home

The Cookie Cutter TJ got a ‘new’ set of injectors thrown at it. I ditched the stock 53030778 Chrysler injectors for the Bosch 0208155703’s. I came across a little tip on cleaning out used injectors that worked pretty slick. You take a 5ml syringe, pull the plunger out, and stick a red stray in the other end. That straw will attach to you can of carb cleaner. Nab an injector harness from the junk yard and rig up a momentary…

The Lone Ranger – Front SAS – D44, leafs, and D35 Tear out

Why buck the trend of just doing Radius arms and coils? There are a few reasons, I’m cheap (Links got expensive), and leafs should work just fine for the wheeling we do out here. The additional bonus of leafs is that it will make it retarded easy to put a D60 in if the D44 Gives me too much trouble. Why run Full Width axles? This goes back to the reliability portion of this build. While I can narrow the…
