Small Vise Held Welding Platform

I have a very nice welding table that I built several years ago. Unfortunately, it often looks like this:

Which means I tend to do all my welding on the floor:

Needless to say, that got old looooong ago. So it was time to do something about it. Given my utter lack of space in this garage, I wanted something that would be fairly small, yet large enough to give me a decent platform to work off of. So I grabbed a 12”x15” plate and got to work:

Welded up a collapsible back stop to try to keep the spatter from going everywhere while welding:

Since the back stop folds down, it gives me a nice large area to work with if needed:

And everything folds up nicely for storage:

Since most of my welding is usually fairly small (6” x 6”) this should provide a good working surface for me, and more importantly, I hope it will help keep me off the floor!
