The Mighty Merc – DVD Player mount

Before heading out west, it seemed like a good idea to figure out a way to hold our portable DVD player for the kids. While I’m not really a fan of letting the kids veg out, I am REALLY not a fan of listening to tired whiny kids for 18 hours, so I made the concession to make the DVD player available to them during our long highway burn. But the way that the mount was made makes it easy to break it down and stow it once we arrived at our destination.

This was a simple project made from scrap steel I had. I started out with the tablet side of the mount. This part gets attached to the DVD player case which makes it easy for my wife to pull it off the truck side stand to swap movies, or to break it down and put it away:

I then zipped the truck side of the stand together. The flat plate sides under the center console which keeps everything locked in place:

And in the truck. You can see why this was done, in this photo. The Merc does not have adjustable headrests so there isn’t any place to really attach the DVD holder.

The mount worked great and really exceeded my expectations since I literally threw it together a few hours before heading out west.
