Now that construction is complete on the new place (well.. mostly) we felt well overdue for a trip to the woods. A friend picked a weekend at Flat Nasty, so we loaded up and rolled out. The kids were very excited to get to the park as ever since we had mentioned “Going to the Woods” a few days prior, they kept asking if it was time to go yet:

Boo Castle Park
Anytime we hike at nearby Giant City State Park, we make a stop at Boo Memorial Castle Park near Carbondale. The park was created in memory of a boy who loved Dungeons & Dragons. This privately owned park is free and open to the public to visit. Donations are encouraged to help maintain the park. The park features beautiful gardens, statues, and a huge castle playground.
