The Mighty Merc – 6th ORT – Flat Nasty Off Road 2-10-18

Yes, 6th trip. I only took one photo from the 5th trip out so you’ll just have to use your imagination on that one! After a few stops on the way down to scrape off the windshields from the freezing rain we encountered, we arrived at Flat Nasty to find that we had the park nearly to ourselves. Apparently not many goofballs want to brave the cold and freezing rain to go play on the rocks! Given that it was…

The Mighty Merc – 4th ORT – SMORR on 10/14/17

After the successful CO trip under our belts, it was time to start beating on this thing a bit. So on lucky Friday the 13th, I loaded up solo to meet some friends down at SMORR in Seymour Mo. Burned out of St. Louis on the back roads: And pulled into SMORR with just enough time to slap the tent up before nightfall: As daylight broke the next morning, I was amazed to see how full the campground was. Colorado 2017 in the Mighty Merc – Final Thoughts on Thursdays Trip home

So no photos on this post as apparently we didn’t take any on our trip back home. Just imagine the rolling hills of Kansas as that’s what we saw during most of our daylight hours. In the end we made it home without an issue, though very…

Colorado 2017 in the Mighty Merc – Wednesday

Wednesday morning we work up to do our usual morning routine of grabbing sunrise photos. I kept the kids occupied while the wife grabbed some photos: I’d say she made the most of the sunrise time that day! Once the sun was up, we bombed over the hill to Idaho Springs to see the waterwheel at the rest stop. I’m still kind of amazed the poor Merc didn’t scatter itself across the interstate when working its way up to the…

Colorado 2017 in the Mighty Merc – Tuesday

We were so beat from our hiking adventure the day before (not to mention the sore backs and blisters on the feet) that it seemed prudent to do a bit more mechanical exploring rather than loading the kids up on our backs again. So we slept in and headed off towards Webster Pass: It still strikes us as funny to come across these signs out in the middle of nowhere: But they were actively working out there. I’m sure it…
