I briefly had these gears in my truck until it exploded (poor rebuild, wound up sticking another 4.0 M5 in). The short period of time that I was able to drive the truck with the shorter gears in the transmission was pleasant. Other folks have pulled this swap off successfully, so it is worthwhile.
